Dangerous aspartame, cancer links, and now strokes and heart disease
It really is time that people wised up and did something!
Aspartame, the sweetener owned by Monsanto, has been linked to an increased risk of brain tumours in the past but, because of the small numbers (6 per one million people), definitive proof was hard to establish.
In 2012, researchers showed clear links between aspartame and leukaemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. The researchers in question had previously produced a study as long ago as 2005 but were criticised for a couple of research flaws. They completely re-analysed the data flawlessly and showed that drinking a can of diet drink every day increased risks of cancers as follows:
– multiple myeloma by 102%
– Leukaemia by 42%
– Lymphoma by 31%

About 80% of all aspartame consumption comes from diet drinks although the sweetener can be found in a variety of ‘foods’ from low fat yogurts to sugar-free gum.
Now comes a large-scale study showing that drinking just two cans of diet drink a week can increase your risks of death from heart disease significantly. In a study of 60,000 post-menopausal women by the University of Iowa, women who drank just two such cans a week were 30% more likely to die prematurely of a stroke or heart attack and 50% more likely to die from a related disease.
Drinking diet drinks also make it MORE likely that your blood sugar levels go up because their effects on organs such as the liver free plasma glucose. They can actually be dangerous to diabetics.
Apart from increasing blood sugar and thus cancer risks, and causing the release of a dangerous heart protein, aspartame has also be shown to cause the build up of methanol in the body – humans cannot denature this, unlike other animals. This has both nerve and brain damaging effects.
Why not go to the Facebook websites of the canned soft drink manufacturers and tell them how damaging you think their products are? Do you want the cans with 14 spoonsful of sugar (glucose and high fructose corn syrup) in them; or the diet ones with their dangerous aspartame? It’s a tough choice!
