According to a study (1) by the University of Bologna, the common cucumber (cucumis sativus Linn.) contains strong anti-inflammatory properties which reduce inflammation and thus fat build up on the endothelial walls of the inside of Blood Vessels. The researchers showed that the cucumber extract specifically attenuates the lipo-polysaccharide induced inflammatory response.
Cucumber has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for health problems as diverse as difficulty in urinating, headaches, insomnia and liver problems including liver cancer.
