Researchers at the University of Texas have shown that using statins can distort your vision; and the longer you take them, the greater the risk (JAMA)

By following the medical records of over 33,000 San Antonio inhabitants between the ages of 30 and 85, they found about 6,000 of them were on statins.

Researchers concluded that statins increased the chances of developing cataracts by 27 per cent. But the study also showed that the longer you are on statins, the more your risk of cataracts increases.

The truth is that your eyes, like your brain, need cholesterol, as does your whole body to build membranes and make vitamin D an essential health hormone, generated by the action of sunlight on cholesterol below the skin.
